1. Decide on a master key which should be a complex set of characters preferably not less than 13 characters long and containing capital letters, small letters, numbers and special characters.
This will be the master key to generate all your passwords for all your accounts. So this is the only key that you will need to remember in future.
Enter this master key in the first box in the tool.
2. In the second box enter a phrase to identify your account. It could be a website name or an app name.
For example, if you need a password for your account at chess.com then you can enter chess.com.
If you need a password for your account for an app installed on your laptop then you can enter the name of that app.
If you need a password for your laptop then you can enter mylaptop.
You will have to enter the same phrase to identify the same account each time.
3. In the third box you will usually have number 1 by default. You can change it to the next number if you need to change the password to any of your accounts.
For example, if you want to change the password for your chase.com account then you enter 2 in the Number field and it will give you a different password.
You will have to remember or write down which password you are on for a particular account if it's not 1.
4. If you want an answer to a security question for multi factor authentication then enter the question in the question box.
5. Finally click the Generate/Retrieve button to generate the password, PIN and answer.
For the first time you use this for a site, you wil have to set this password, PIN or answer in that site. Then subsequently you can use it to login to that site.
5. Generated PIN is 6 digits but you can use first 4 digits if you need only 4 digits.
6. You can use the Copy buttons in front of each of the boxes to copy the contents to the clipboard.
You can then paste these contents whereever you need. For example if you copied the password for the chase.com then you can paste it in the password box of the chess.com login screen.
